Description
Zander (Sander lucioperca) is a valuable sport fish from the Percidae family. It has an elongated body with two dorsal fins and large glassy eyes adapted for hunting in twilight.
Habitat
Favours calm and slow waters of moderate temperature, with stony or gravel bottoms and abundant cover. Often lives in shoals and is active at dusk and at night.
Diet
Younger ones feed on plankton and invertebrates, while adult perch mostly consume smaller fish.
