How the fishing mini-game works
How the fishing mini-game works on Ribarica
This fishing mini-game shows a short angling loop: casting, waiting for a bite, fighting the fish, and then choosing whether to keep or release it. It is not a location simulator, but a fast educational game built to explain core sport-fishing rules.
-
1. Cast and wait for a bite
After you press the button, the game starts the cast animation and enters a waiting phase. The bite comes after a random delay, so clicking too early means a missed fish and a fresh attempt.
-
2. React fast and manage tension
When the fish bites, you have to react quickly. The reel phase then opens, where every click or tap raises line tension while the fish keeps pulling the other way. Progress is fastest while the indicator stays inside the green zone.
-
3. Catch, size, and fishing rules
After a successful fight, the game shows the fish species, Latin name, and a randomly generated catch size. The keep-or-release choice is then checked against the fish dataset for closed season, minimum size, and protected-species status.
-
4. Learn from every decision
If you try to keep a fish that should be released, the game treats it as a violation. If you release the fish or legally keep it, you get a short result explanation and can open extra facts about the species, habitat, and diet.
What this mini-game actually teaches
The fishing mini-game is meant for quick rule revision: when not to strike too early, how to recognize a legal catch, and why closed seasons, minimum size, and protection status matter in responsible fishing.
