Description
Burbot (Lota lota) is a freshwater fish inhabiting cold waters.
Habitat
Lives in large cold rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Prefers fresh water but can spawn in brackish water. In summer it stays in cooler, deeper layers.
Diet
The young feed on zooplankton and invertebrates, and the adults are primarily fish eaters; they also eat insects and other macroinvertebrates.
