Description
Asp (Leuciscus aspius) is a large predator from the Cyprinidae family. It has an elongated, strong body and hunts at the surface, creating large splashes.
Habitat
Stays around backwater mouths and in lakes connected to rivers. Young fish form shoals, while older fish are solitary.
Diet
It is a typical predator; it feeds mainly on small fish, but also frogs and birds near the water, and after spawning it often takes worms.
Regulations and Responsible Fishing
The closed season is listed as 01.04. - 31.05.. During that period, release the fish immediately and carefully.
The minimum size is 40 cm. Fish below this size should be released immediately.
