Description
Carpathian lamprey (Eudontomyzon danfordi) is a lamprey species found in the Danube basin. Now rare and classified as near threatened.
Habitat
A freshwater species. Adults inhabit clear, well-oxygenated streams and rivers in foothill and mountain areas. Larvae live in sediments rich in organic detritus.
Diet
The larvae feed by filtering detritus, insect larvae and small crustaceans. Adult cockroaches are parasites; they feed on the blood and flesh of live fish or the carcasses of dead fish.

This species is strictly protected, so fishing and keeping catches are not allowed.
