By species

Quick score snapshot for supported species at the current location and hour.

When species models are available, this section compares carp, pike, catfish, and zander so you can choose a more suitable target for the current conditions.

Today by hour

Hourly view for picking a better time window today.

Use this section to find stronger activity windows within the same day and compare how conditions shift hour by hour at one location.

    72h outlook

3-hour steps for planning the next three days.

The 72-hour outlook is for broader trip planning, comparing mornings and evenings, and tracking how weather or water changes may influence fishing.

      Why this score

This breakdown shows which signals push the score up or down and how confident the model is in the underlying inputs for the selected slot and location.

How to choose a fishing time today

Compare the location, target species and several neighbouring hours before choosing a trip. The highest number alone is not enough to make the decision.

          1. Check that the location represents your water

Check the linked station and data freshness. A station water level is not the depth at your fishing spot. Conditions on the nearest river should not automatically be applied to a different tributary or separate lake.

          2. Compare hours for your target species

Choose your target in the species view, then compare morning, afternoon and evening. Read the water-level trend, temperature and weather forecast too. The score does not establish that this species is present at the selected location.

          3. Recheck the plan before leaving

Reopen the forecast before leaving and check official warnings, bank access, your permit and local rules. To learn from your own results, record the date, water, target species, trip duration and catch, including blank sessions.

          Two worked examples

These are hypothetical examples of reading the tool, not today’s forecast.

          High score, weak data

If the model shows 82/100 but water observations are old or the temperature is estimated, check the available sources and actual conditions first. A score of 82 does not remove uncertainty in the inputs.

          Two similar time windows

Scores of 64 and 67 in neighbouring hours do not prove that the second hour will produce more fish. Choose the window that fits your target species, checked conditions and safe access.

How to read the fishing forecast score

How the fishing forecast works and what each section means

The 0–100 score summarises conditions using Ribarica's model rules: season, air and water temperature, available water-level and flow data, pressure, weather and time of day. Lunar phase adds a small nighttime contribution. Use it to compare time windows; it is not a percentage chance of catching a fish.

          Distinguishing measurements, forecasts and estimates

Station measurements describe conditions at the measuring point; weather forecasts describe future conditions. The model links them to the selected location, so they do not measure every bank or depth. When water temperature is unavailable, the model may use an estimate.

Missing inputs reduce the influence of available factors, while older data lowers the displayed confidence. Check freshness, the available charts and the factor breakdown. A high score with low confidence calls for an additional check of actual conditions.

          1. Now shows the conditions score and data freshness

The Now section shows the current model score, its text category and data freshness. Possible shoreline movement is also a model estimate, not confirmation that a bank is accessible or safe.

          2. By species helps choose a target

The model provides separate estimates for eight supported species: carp, pike, catfish, zander, Prussian carp, bream, barbel and chub. These are not observations of presence or feeding at a location. Check habitat, closed seasons and local rules for your target species.

          3. Today by hour is for picking timing

The hourly view is most useful when deciding whether to go in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Focus on how the scores open and close through the day, not just on a single peak number.

          4. The 72h outlook gives the bigger planning picture

The 72-hour view shows the trend in 3-hour steps and helps compare several days ahead. Use it when planning a weekend trip or tracking an incoming weather or water-level change.

          5. Charts reveal details that numbers cannot

Interactive charts display water level, water temperature, species forecast, and weather forecast. Hover over a chart to read the exact value at any point in time. Click on a chart to view it full-screen. In charts with a legend, click a species to toggle it on or off.

          6. Why this score explains the model

Confidence describes input freshness, completeness, agreement and the suitability of linked sources for the location. It is shown separately from the conditions score. It is not a forecast-accuracy percentage or a statistically validated catch probability.

What the score does not mean

A score of 80 does not mean an 80% chance of a catch. The model rules and weights have not been calibrated against actual catch records. Also consider your target species, local regulations, official warnings and the conditions you find at the water.

          How to read the score

The score is an informational 0–100 fishing-conditions index, not a percentage chance of catching a fish.
